More about us

Find out more about mapCrowd and the allies that support us!

To address the lack of data and enhance global hepatitis C advocacy efforts, in 2016, Médecins du Monde (MdM) and Treatment Action Group (TAG) launched mapCrowd, an online crowdsourcing platform designed to gather and publicize the most up-to-date country-level information on the hepatitis C virus (HCV). In 2021, the mapCrowd database gained additional support by the Hepatitis C Partnership for Control and Treatment, or Hepatitis C PACT– a partnership among Médecins Sans Frontières, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative, Treatment Action Group, and Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics – the global alliance for diagnostics, to inform country-specific campaigns and national hepatitis planning processes in low- and middle-income countries.

This website has been produced with the financial support of the French Development Agency (AFD) and Médecins Sans Frontières Transformational Investment Capacity (MSF/TIC). The ideas and opinions expressed do not necessarily represent those of AFD or MSF/TIC.

We gratefully acknowledge Harm Reduction International (HRI) for providing data from the Global State of Harm Reduction report and related research. We thank the Clinton Health Access Initiative for providing technical review on mapCrowd questions and data on diagnostics pricing in the HCV Market Intelligence Report 2021 and Preliminary HBV Market Insights.

We have immense gratitude for the invaluable contributions and information-sharing from our partners and allies at the Africa Hepatitis Initiative, Alliance for Public Health Ukraine, Coalition PLUS, CORRELATION Network, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative, European AIDS Treatment Group, FIPRA, Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics, GAT Portugal, Médecins Sans Frontières Access Campaign, and the World Hepatitis Alliance.
